Dropped like a hot stone, but the first of many, Nokia confuse the issue

Nokia N9 available in stores, somewhere

The unwanted orphan of the Nokia/Meego relationship - the N9 - has finally found its way to market. While the creators of the device might be keen to turn their back on it (and make it hard to get hold of!) the internet rumblings would lead you to believe there was actually somewhat of a market for it.

This might be another case of the rarity inspired desire (as also enjoyed by the now ditched TouchPad from HP), but it can't help but look like a case of embarrassment limitation by the Finns in front of their new OS bed-fellows Microsoft.

The PR machine was still in full force however; keen to assure you otherwise with  Ilari Nurmi,VP of Marketing at the firm, saying:

"With the innovations in industrial design, user interface, and the Qt developer experience, the Nokia N9 sets the bar for how natural technology can feel, and represents the first in a number of products from Nokia that will be brought to life in similar fashion."

If this is the first in a number of products being 'brought to life market' in a similar fashion, they can't surely be including the new WP7 phones in that can they? Can they? Unfortunately we'll have to wait and see, but nice to see Nokia keeping a straight company line during this understandably difficult transitional period.
